FIT Muay was conceptualized with the mission of raising the standard of kicking, punching, and striking among #recreational #fitness enthusiasts. Thousands of non-combative #gyms worldwide offer their clients this fitness routine, yet their #trainers and coaches do not go through any formalized or structured #education to conduct them. As a result, the poor #training #methodology leaves both enthusiasts and trainers compromised, resulting in injury and negative experiences.
Muay Thai's strong fundamentals inspired FIT Muay, to empower our #certified trainers to #facilitate enthusiasts to strike correctly and enjoy the activities while improving their fitness #holistically and having fun at the same time.
Upskilling Fitness Professionals
We advocate equipping fitness professionals with the required #competency skills, not just technical methodologies but also with the necessary knowledge of #exercise science and coaching #andragogy. The strong emphasis on safety coupled with coaching behaviors and teaching cues form a large portion of our educational philosophy. In the previous year, trainer candidates from past intakes have provided numerous feedback on the systematic yet challenging #competency-based assessment that required trainers to fulfill before becoming a certified FIT Muay Trainer.
In the Trainer Foundations program, trainer candidates are required to not only perform the technical movements but also be able to understand both the progressions and regressions while being able to articulate them with proper #movement terms. All the foundations of both #striking and #kicking are covered during this phase.
In the subsequent phase in the Trainer Level One program, trainer candidates will be required to teach, coach, and facilitate learning for their potential clients through the necessary competency skills that will require #communication, cueing correction of movement, and basic programming. They will also be assessed on their ability to conduct an actual session while holding all the other requirements on hand.
The majority of trainer candidates can look forward to attaining their qualifications after attending a 16-hour program and clearing their Level One Trainer assessment which usually takes 2 to 6 months, with a handful being able to do so immediately during the course itself.
FIT Muay in the Community
Since 2022, FIT Muay trainers and programs have made their way into the community. In 2023, the FIT Muay programs will be making their way into People's Association (PA) venues i.e. Community Centres across #Singapore. This will be an exciting journey for all fitness and recreational enthusiasts who have been seeking to onboard onto the FIT Muay program since its inception in the heartlands.
Taking Action in 2023
Regardless if you are a fitness professional or enthusiast, FIT Muay will be growing with the community and has seriously taken all your valuable feedback and suggestions over the last 12 months.
